Latin Laneway Festival 2016
Melbourne’s 3rd Annual Latino Fiesta: 16th October 2016, Meyer’s Place
After a massively successful event two years running, it’s back. Meyer’s Place, one of Melbourne’s favourite destinations for drinking and dining will once again treat us to a latino carnaval.

Now, I’m sure everyone has something that triggers a fear of missing out. For me it’s a person saying they’re off to one of my top places to travel before I die.
South America: Argentina or Cuba or Columbia or Peru or Chile or Ecuador or Venezuela or Brazil or all of the above.
I’ve got bionic ears for it. I might just hear it in passing on the street. Or a friend might post a happy-happy status on Facebook. Oh yay!
It’s the loudest sound you’ll ever hear; they may as well be standing on the top of the Rialto Building with a mega phone shouting “South America!”
Then the photos and posts start appearing on Facebook and Instagram. Oh, God, kill me now. What I wouldn’t I give to be there in the spectacle that is South America – the music; the colour; the atmosphere; the street food; the tango; the cócteles, and CARNIVALE. OMG!
I’ve always believed in sharing is caring, so I have a great deal of respect for the innovative lady who decided Melbourne needed an injection of South America.
Inspired by her annual trips to Buenos Aires and her favourite Sunday market in San Telmo, Renee McConnell decided the experience must be replicated here.
With a little help from her friends, as they say, the Meyer’s Place Latin Fiesta is now in it’s 3rd year. San Telmo, Pizza Pizza Pizza, Lily Blacks, Loop Roof and Havana Club Rum have collaborated to transform the Meyer’s Place laneway into a Latin style street party.
Last year’s fiesta was so successful it put the popular street event on the city’s annual social calendar.
But this year is set to be even more exciting with a very special music and entertainment program, plus some lucky duck will win a trip to Peru compliments of travel agency G Adventures (just visit their kiosk to enter the draw).
Come along and stuff your face with authentic South American Choripan, Lomito, Espanadas and Tacos.
But most of all get down for the thing that’s most dear to my heart, the Cocktails.

And one of these days I’ll tick South America off my bucket list and flick that FOMO once and for all.
